Visiting Central UMC
If you are a first time visitor or have visited many times, our goal is for you to feel comfortable when visiting Central. Whether it is on a Sunday morning or another day during the week, we want you to know what to expect before walking through the doors.
Our Worship Services
The music in this service is led by our worship singers accompanied by piano, two acoustic guitars, bass guitar, and drums. We include a variety of styles of music including praise and worship songs, hymns and contemporary music. Our children’s director, Mrs. Debbie, talks with the children at the children’s message and Co-Pastors Fred or Dorothy Ann preach the sermon. This service is smaller than our 10:30am traditional service. Everyone is encouraged to attend a Sunday school class at 9:30am.
The music in this service is led by our chancel choir accompanied by the organ. We sing from the hymnal a few times during the service. Our children’s director, Mrs. Debbie, talks with the children at the children’s message, and then 4-year-olds thru kindergarten proceed to children’s church. Co-Pastors Fred or Dorothy Ann preach the sermon to a larger congregation than at the 8:30am service.
Everyone is encouraged to attend a Sunday school class at 9:30am. Both services serve communion once a month and at special services. Everyone is welcome to take communion from the Lord’s table.
Central is located in Decatur, Alabama, on the corner of Jackson Street and 6th Avenue (which is also Highway 31), ½ mile from the main river bridge.
